Why register?
Apart from the unique experience of seeing your home in feature films, commercials,
music video, magazines etc…. It can earn some home owners an alternative income
in excess of £15-£20,000 a year. It can also offer publicity and profile that could
potentially increase your property’s market value.
Is my property suitable?
We've used a wide range of locations, from unmodernised council flats to large country
houses and everything in between. Décor and style needs vary but in practice, sufficient
space to handle a crew as well as cast is the main requirement. Open plan spaces
and high ceilings are ideal and so too are locations with good parking facilities.
As our client base is mainly Greater London, properties within or in close proximity
of the M25 are in higher demand. But there is always the exception to the rule.
How do I register?
Registering with My Locations is easy. Just go to the registration page and fill
out the form, but don't forget to supply us with images of all areas where filming
is allowed. The location filming industry is highly competitive so good photographs
are pivotal. We strongly advise you to send clear and well exposed property images.

Will registering my property cost me anything?
No. Unlike other agencies, registration is free. We aim to attract regular business
versus only one off jobs so if we agree to represent your property you only pay
a 15% commission of the total location hire fee which we will deduct
at source. So unless you are VAT registered, you will not incur an additional 17,5%
in cost.
What happens once I register?
Your home/venue/location is added to our radar and will be featured on our website
with a generic description. Clients will either refer to our website or contact
us direct with their brief. Because of our advanced search facility, our clients
will be able to find your property very easily. Equally, our team of experienced
location hunters will be able to pro-actively pitch your property for projects in
pre-production. Our experience in the business means that we know exactly what each
shoot involves. When we pitch your property we provide you further details and if
all parties agree, we arrange a viewing. If the property is then selected, My Locations
will negotiate all fees, check that all liability insurances are correct and ensure
that the agreements are signed before anyone begins work on your property.
What's going to happen to my property when used for filming?
Normally they select your home/location/venue because they like the look of it already.
Sometimes we get a request to dress a location, e.g. to paint a wall a different
colour or build a piece of scenery into the location. However, this will always
be discussed well beforehand so that there are no surprises on the shoot day. We
will make sure your home is protected because we would like you to have a good experience.
How much do I get paid?
This varies depending on the nature of the shoot and the level of disruption caused.
To give you a bit of an idea, a stills shoot, the most straight forward and least
intrusive could see 5-15 people and a single van turn up for a typical 8 hour day
- fee £500+. With television and features the fee depends on the property but generally
1-2 days set up are required, followed by a further 1-2 days of shooting and a final
day for reinstating. Preparation and strike days can see 5-10 people at your property
for 6-8 hours, whilst shoot days can mean over 40 people on site for up to 12 hours.
Fees start at £1,000 per filming day. Please note that it is industry standard that
dress and strike days are paid half the rate of a filming day!
What is something goes wrong during a shoot?
We never allow a shoot to commence without appropriate public liability insurance.
If any damage occurs it will be covered under this document. We always make you
are fully aware of what's going to happen and any potential risks to the location
(if any). Our contract states that the production company is responsible for any
cleaning/reinstatement costs as a direct result from the filming.
I'm worried about security. Will everyone know where I live? Who gets my personal
details?
My Locations takes this very seriously. Your property will be listed with a random
ID reference number, so no personal details are displayed on our website. We carefully
vet anybody who makes an enquiry and ask our clients to show a picture ID when visiting
a property. We will not give anybody your contact details as all appointments and
negotiations are handled via our office.
